This hat has a neat trick of a raised decrease on four sides continuing up to the top of the hat. The ribbed band is knit on small needles for a good fit and the upper part of the hat is knit on larger needles. Additionally, if you are a two-handed colour knitter, as I am, (I hold one colour in my left hand and knit it continental style and the second colour in my right hand and knit that colour in the English style) then you need to ALWAYS carry the same colour in the same hand throughout the knitting of the hat. It is possible to see a visible difference in the body of your hat if you don’t.
